CVS 7/6/08

Hello fellow CVSers!!

This week didn't look too exciting at first glance and I didn't have a lot of ECBs to work with (only 7.99 and 3.00 haha), but once I started to complile my list, I came up with a plan that I was happy with. And to my shock, CVS had everything I wanted!! Yeah!! I think I spent about as much time in line being rung up as I did shopping for everything. The cashier was new and the scanner was not liking any of my coupons today... But, after all was said and done, I was happy.

ECBs earned: 1.00 for Dawn, 1.00 for Pringles, 3.00 for Sure, .99 for pantyliners, 1.49 for cvs tampons, 3.00 for Playtex tampons

Total: $.62
ECBs received: 5.00 for Febreze, 1.00 for Dawn, .99 for pantyliners

So... I walked in with $10.99 in ECBs, spent $1.22 OOP, and walked out with 7.99 in ECBs and a crapload of stuff!! =)

Look Ma! No training wheels!

So my five year old baby boy decided that he was done using "baby wheels" and proceded to remove them from his bike himself. He is my little Mr. Fix-It. He shows me his training wheels and tells me that he doesn't want to use them anymore because he wants his bike to look like big brother Nick's. Okay.... so I was about to start fighting him on it because is FIVE and my baby boy is just not ready to ride without them, but instead I decide to let him give it a try so that he could see for himself that he still needed them and that would be the end of it. So we go into the grass and he hops up on his bike and I give him a very little push because I just knew he was going to fall right over. Well things didn't go according to my plan. Nope. This little boy proceeded to take off and ride around the whole yard like he has been doing it the entire five years he has been alive. Needless to say, I was speechless. How could this be?? He is five. My older son didn't master riding the bike until he was 6 and that was after many, many times (and falls) of trying. But this little boy just took off and did not look back. I guess I shouldn't have been that surprised though, really. He's been like that his whole life---kicking the pacifier and bottle habit, potty-training, the list goes on... When he decides to do something, he does it. End of story. They just grow up too fast. :(

CVS ~ 6.11.08

Well so far I've had a really good week at CVS that I just haven't had a chance to post about. I finished up last week's sale last Saturday and made a killing! I had started the week with $10 ECBs... spent around $4 out of pocket and finished the week with $25 ECBs in hand! :) So, I started this week with the $25 ECBs, I've gotten a ton of stuff... took advantage of the wonderful deals on General Mills Cereal and the 12 packs of Coke products. I've spent about $2 OOP and walked out of CVS yesterday with $15 ECBs. Here is how it went yesterday:

Transaction #1:

(2) 12 packs Coke - 5.50

(3) Nivea shaving gels - 8.97

(1) Nivea extreme shaving gel - 3.99

$10 ECBs

Total OOP: $1.88

ECBs received: 5.00 for Nivea

And have $4.96 towards another $10 Nivea purchase

$5.00 towards $10 candy purchase

(2) 12pks towards the (4) 12pks purchase

Transaction #2:

(6) Gold Emblem candies @ .88 ea.

(1) CVS bandaids - 1.99

(1) CVS Q-tips - 3.19

(2) Nivea shaving gels - 5.98

(1) candy bar - .50 (filler and goes towards candy purchase)

Coupons used:

$3/15

$3/10 cvs brand

(2) $1 off Nivea

(3) $1 off 2 Gold Emblem

$5.94 ECBs

Total OOP: $0

ECBs received: 5.00 for Nivea, 1.99 bandaids, 2.00 qtips, 5.00 for candy

And still have about .78 towards another $10 candy purchase

Transaction #3:

(2) 12pks Coke - 5.50

(1) Brut deodorant - 2.69

(2) Johnsons Buddy Soaps - 1.98

(1) CVS antacid tablets

(2) boxes of Candy - 2.00

(1) candy bar - .50

$3/15

(2) $1 off Johnsons soap

.55 off Brut

$14 ECBs

Total OOP: .41

ECBs received: 3.00 for Coke, 3.00 for Brut

Now have 4.28 towards another $10 candy purchase

This week so far, we've gotten 7 boxes of cereal, 4 12pks, 10 cans of Nivea shaving gel, bandaids, qtips, deodorant, soap, and a crap load of candy! lol And I am only out about $10 (ecb). Not bad at all! :)

CVS trip 6/4

After much research and planning and coupon clipping and list-making, my CVS trip didn't turn out the way I had wanted it to yesterday. For $9.25 OOP I got a good bit of stuff, but I know I could have done so much better had everything been in stock! I ended up making 2 seperate trips to two different CVS stores. My first trip was pretty disappointing so I had to go check out the other store. I think I am going to make the second one my go-to store because the couple of times that I have been in there, they seem to have just about everything that is on sale. Anywho, here is how it went:

Transaction #1 (first store):

  • (2) Listerine Smart Rinses @ 3.49 ea. (wanted 3 of them but all they had were 2)
  • (1) 2 pk Oral-B toothbrushes @ 6.99
  • (2) packages of Gold Emblem candy @ .99 ea

Total: $15.95 + tax

  • - $3/15 coupon
  • - $1 off 2 Gold Emblem candy
  • - $4.99 ECBs from last week

OOP: $7.42

Got back: 6.98 for the Listerine and $6.99 for the toothbrushes

I know that is not too bad considering I spent $12.41 with the previous ECB and came out $1.56 ahead.

Transaction #2 (first store):

  • (4) Chex Mix @ $1 ea.
  • (4) Febrezes @ 2/$5
  • (2) Dawn Dish Soaps @ 2/$2
  • (1) Brut deodorant @ 2.69
  • (1) Ladies Choice deodorant @ .99
  • (1) Reeses candy @ .79 (needed a filler and thought they were only .50, oops!)

Total: $20.47 + tax

  • - $4/$20
  • - .25 off Dawn
  • - (4) .50 off Chex Mix
  • - 6.98 ECB from #1
  • - 6.99 ECB from #1

OOP: .25

Got back 5.00 for Febreze, 1.00 for Dawn, 3.00 for Brut

All in all, not too bad considering they were out of a lot of stuff... didn't have as many Brut's and Listerine's that I wanted, didn't have the bandaids, and I could not find the Pantene products that were on my coupons for $1.50 off one. So I had to quickly throw something together with what they did have. So, on to the second store...

Transaction #3 (2nd store):

  • (2) Brut deodorants @ 2.69 ea.
  • (1) Gillette Fusion razor @ 9.99
  • (2) Spices @ .99 ea (not on sale but needed them)

Total: $17.35 + tax

  • - $3/15
  • - $4 off Fusion razor
  • - $9 ECBs from first store

OOP: $1.57

Got back: 6.00 for 2 Bruts, 4.00 for the razor

So for $9.25 OOP I got:

  • (3) Brut deodorants
  • (4) Chex Mixes
  • (2) Listerine Smart Rinse mouthwashes
  • (4) Febreze products
  • (2) Dawn Dish Soaps
  • (2) Bags of candy
  • (1) 2 pk Oral B toothbrushes
  • (1) Ladies Choice deodorant
  • (1) package of Reeses cups

And I still have $10 ECBs for next week. PLUS, at the second store they had rebate forms for the Listerine so I snagged a couple of those! :)

I still couldn't find the Pantene to use with my coupons at the second store. My coupons are for Beautiful Lengths and Restoratives. I saw the Restoratives products but they weren't 3/$10. Anyone else having trouble find them? I wonder if they will accept the coupons I have for any Pantene?

Hopefully next week I will be able to get a lot more for less $$!

CVS trip # 2

So, determined to still get the "free" Adidas deoderant and Tums QuikPak, I ventured to another CVS yesterday. They were out of the Tums but I did manage to get 2 Adidas deoderants. So here is how it went:

Transaction #1:

(1) Adidas deoderant - $4.99
total: $5.35
-$1 Adidas deoderant coupon
-$2 ECB
OOP: $2.19
Got back $4.99 ECB for the deoderant

Transaction #2:
(1) Adidas deoderant - $4.99
(1) box Absolutely Divine cookies - $1.99
total: $6.47
-$1 Adidas deoderant coupon
-$1 cookies coupon
-$4.99 ECB
OOP: Nothing!
Got back $4.99 ECB for Adidas deoderant

So for this trip and my first one combined for $6.50 OOP I have gotten
(2) Colgate 360 toothbrushes
(2) Adidas deoderants
(2) boxes Absolutely Divine cookies
(1) Aquafresh Advanced Whitening toothpaste
(1) pack of Extra Strength Rolaids
(1) Baby Ruth candy bar
AND I still have $4.99 for my next purchase. Basically I got all that for about $1.50! Woohoo!!

I can't wait until next weeks sale! I'm starting to get the hang of this! :)

First official CVS trip

Well if you have a CVS store in your area and you are not familiar with "CVS-ing" then go here to read up on how to make CVS work for you! I never even knew this little world existed until a couple of weeks ago and I am still amazed and how it is done! The website I just linked you to is full of money-saving tips and lots of info from many people all over. Go check it out!

So, anywho, back to my original thought... I went to CVS yesterday just to buy a few things that were on sale until the end of the month. Here is what I got....

(2) Colgate 360 toothbrushes
(1) Aquafresh Advanced Whitening toothpaste
(1) box of Absolutely Divine cookies
(1) package of extra strength Rolaids
(1) Baby Ruth candy bar

Wanna guess what I paid for that??

$4.25, though technically it was only $2.25! Now, I know to the experienced CVSers, I paid way too much but being that this was my first attempt at the "game" I think I did pretty darn good! Here is how I did it.....

Transaction #1:
(1) Colgate 360 toothbrush - $3.99
total: $3.99 + tax = $4.25
OOP: $4.25
Got back $3.99 in Extra Care Bucks

Transaction #2:
(1)Colgate 360 toothbrush - $3.99
total: $3.99 + tax
Paid with the previous $3.99 in ECB
OOP: Nothing!
Got back $3.99 in Extra Care Bucks

Transaction #3:
(1)Aquafresh Advanced Whitening toothpaste - $2.99
(1)box of Absolutely Divine cookies - $1.99 on sale
total: $4.98 + tax
-$1 off coupon for the cookies
total: $3.98 + tax
-previous $3.99 in ECB
OOP: Nothing!
Got back $2.99 in ECB for the toothpaste

Transaction #4
(1)package extra strength Rolaids - $2.49
(1)Baby Ruth candy bar
total: $2.99 + tax
-previous $2.99 in ECB
OOP: Nothing!
Got back $2 in ECB for the Rolaids

So...... I walked in and spent $4.25 and walked out with $2 to use towards my next purchase.
Not too shabby, huh?

I had originally gone in to pick up the Addidas deoderant and Tums QuikPak which both would have been free after the ECBs but they were all out. :(
